Arts and Cultural Person Monthly Awards

The Arts and Cultural Person of the Month is presented by the Fraser Coast Regional Council, the Hervey Bay Boat Club and the Fraser Coast Chronicle (tbc).

Two awards will be offered each month -

  • Junior Arts and Cultural Person - person under 18 years of age
  • Senior Arts and Cultural Person - person aged 18 years or older.

The prizes are sponsored by the Hervey Bay Boat Club.  The recipient in each category will be awarded

  • a $50 Gift Voucher to the Hervey Bay Boat Club;
  • a story in the Fraser Coast Chronicle and the quarterly Fraser Coast Regional Council Scene publication; and
  • a framed Certificate.

Eligibility

An Arts and Cultural person is defined as a person who is engaged in an activity related to creating art, practising the arts, or demonstrating an art. A person who uses imagination, talent, or skill to create works that may be judged to have an  aesthetic value. This might be someone who works in the following areas:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts
  • Community Arts and Cultural Development
  • Dance
  • Emerging and Experimental Arts
  • Literature
  • Multi-art form
  • Music
  • Theatre
  • Visual Arts

This award recognises arts and cultural people who stand up above the rest, whether it’s talent, heart, determination, community connection or overcoming a challenge. 

The Arts and Cultural person can be nominated by teachers, tutors, other arts workers or arts and cultural people,  community members or by self nomination.  

Nominations must meet the criteria below.  

 CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION

  1. The award is open to Arts and Cultural Persons who have their primary residence in the Fraser Coast region;
  2. Categories are determined by age:
    Junior Arts and Cultural Persons are determined as under 18 years of age.
    Senior Art and Cultural Persons are determined as 18 years of age and older;
  3. The award is given for an outstanding activities by Arts and Cultural Persons as judged by the Panel.

Nominations will be accepted up to 4 pm on the second Monday of the nominating month.
